The Rise Of Mobile Photography
Smartphones have changed a lot of things about how we connect with the world, but they have also fundamentally changed how we capture the world. Oppo’s integration with the OG of photography and the Nasa camera of choice to capture the moon landing, Hasselblad really goes to show how far mobile photography innovation has come and the fact that you don’t need to be lugging around a backpack of gear to capture the world’s best shots.
The new Oppo Find N3 for example comes with a triple rear camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary wide sensor, a 48-megapixel secondary ultrawide, and a 64-megapixel tertiary periscope zoom lens. The periscope lens can optically zoom up to 3X and hybrid zoom of 6X. But of course, the true testament to the specs is how the photos look.
And there’s probably no better test for this than the “OPPO imagine IF Photography Awards.” Last year’s competition garnered over 700,000 entries. And this year’s one looks to be bigger with more categories and more grand prizes up for grabs.
Submissions will be judged by a world-class judging panel, featuring members from Magnum Photos, several Hasselblad Masters, and a National Geographic photographer, among other iconic figures in the field.
The competition spans nine categories, including Landscape, Portrait, Colours, Unfading Moment, Fashion, Snapshot, Light, Travel, and Collection. The stakes are high, with a grand prize of USD 24,000 for the winner of the OPPO imagine IF Master (Gold Award), plus opportunities to showcase their work at international exhibitions like Paris Photo and to sign with OPPO as an official photographer.
The OPPO imagine IF Photography Awards 2024 are now accepting submissions until July 28, 2024, imagine-if.oppo.com/en/
