The Spring Edit
We have finally passed the last official days of winter, and are looking ahead to the new fashion trends that come with the change of season. As another round of European fashion shows comes to a close, we can look at what trends will be hitting the world of menswear and what looks will start appearing in retailers window displays in the coming few weeks.
There may be a few looks that appear familiar to some of our readers, as some of the looks from the 1980s return and once again become on trend; so, guys, dust off your acid-wash jeans and boxy-shaped suits for the this revival.
We see more of a development on pinks this season; yes, this one is here to stay, and if you haven’t got on board, it is time to head to your local department store and get among this colour craze – the tones, however, have expanded to more hues, opening up a broader, more grown-up, palette.
There are also two new suit looks you can add to your wardrobe: an all-white suit, again channeling the 80s vibe; and a vertical stripe suit, which is both a great look and a very flattering print.
THE NEUTRAL TONES
With the return of the 80s in fashion comes quite a few neutral, washed-out pastel tones appearing in collections, along with some of the cuts. The turtle neck has been strong for the past few seasons, but we are seeing this more often and in colours that pay homage to the era. The Working Style Heavy Roll Neck Jersey ticks all the right boxes for this season, it is sleek enough to layer under a blazer but warm enough to keep the sea breeze at bay on its own on mild days.
ERMENEGILDO ZEGNA
Exploring the pink colour palette this season, and pitching it as your seasonal go-to, is Ermenegildo Zegna. They displayed it as a full suit and also as a contrast accessory in their luggage and footwear collections. The more subdued pinks lean towards a beige tone as more hues are incorporated into the pink range this season.
THE VERTICAL STRIPED SUIT
Now this one is something we can all celebrate. While there wasn’t a lot on the print front, there was one pattern that was used across most brands – and that was vertical stripes. The reason we should all celebrate this, is that it looks great on all body shapes. There wasn’t a specific width stripe shown favour, so you can opt for anything from pin stripe to block stripe.

Another key look this season is the neutrals, and they look damn good. If you’re not too keen on pulling off the pink colours this season, be sure to go for the sun-bleached cream and whites, as they will have you looking fresh and on-trend. With a huge variation of tones on offer, go for something that doesn’t match your skin tone, as this will have you looking washed out. Layer a white jacket over beige pants and top. Hugo Boss explores lightweight cottons and linens with many of their looks. The linens have a great texture and are extremely breathable. Go loose and oversized with the tailoring to achieve a relaxed, yet refined laid‑back mood.

Not just a JACKET
Style up your weekend look by layering with a solid denim jacket. Another colour tend to try this season is fresh hues of crisp blues that are light and refreshing. A black denim jacket could be worn over your all-white suit to bring in a bold contrast.
