Top 10 Most Liveable Cities
Earlier this year, the global consulting firm, Mercer, ranked Auckland as being the third most liveable city for quality of life and, as the Economist Intelligence Unit’s global liveability index put out a list of the 10 most liveable cities study, we expected to make the cut.
But alas, as all good things come to those who wait, we did not. The global liveability index takes into account the stability, culture and environment, education, infrastructure, and health care.
Whether it’s the Kaffeehauskultur or the stunning Danube river, Austria’s largest city of Vienna has taken the biscuit for the most liveable city in the world. It bet Melbourne by 0.7 percent nonetheless, with its glitzy architecture, art and culture with up to 400 lavish events happening yearly. It was also heralded for its low pollution, excellent public transport and crime rates with healthy living and urban planning being continuously promoted. Gratulation, Vienna!
The other cities that were listed were: Melbourne, Australia (second), Sydney, Australia (third), Osaka, Japan (fourth), Calgary, Canada (fifth), Vancouver, Canada (sixth), Toronto, Canada and Tokyo, Japan (equal seventh), Copenhagen, Germany (ninth) and Adelaide, Australia (10th).
