Venom

Last time Venom got the silver screen treatment, it was underwhelming to say the least. But with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) at the helm as director and Tom Hardy as the meat puppet, audiences will be treated with a more focused and nuanced antihero.

Tom Hardy plays Eddie Brock, a journalist who gets taken over by a lifeform known as a symbiote. He’s not the only one fans of the comic will recognise though, with Riot making an entrance.

All the stops are being pulled out on this blockbuster so expect plenty of spectacle and plenty of CGI goop engulfing Hardy like this was some X-rated Japanese cartoon. The movie is pushing the envelope on what can be done within a PG-13 film.

Word for those not in the know, don’t go expecting much Marvel Universe tie-ins or Iron Man swooping in to deus ex machina the day. This is a Sony production, albiet with a Marvel association.
