Rolex are whisking us back to a simpler time with their Perpetual 1908. Encased in gleaming 950 platinum it features an ice-blue dial that intricately weaves a guilloché rice-grain motif. Underneath this artistry is some serious craftsmanship and ingenuity in the form of the formidable calibre 7140 movement. A masterclass mechanical precision that features a high-efficiency Chronergy escapement, a shock-resistant Paraflex system, bridges decorated with Rolex Côtes de Genève and a cut-out oscillating weight. Introduced in 2023, this collection offers a fresh take on classic watchmaking styles, enriched with the distinctive craftsmanship and design legacy of Rolex. It also pays tribute to the year Hans Wilsdorf first coined and registered the ‘Rolex’ name in Switzerland, marking the inception of the brand and a fitting testament it is.
Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II
Rolex has rolled out a brand new Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II made specifically for the international jetsetter. The bidirectional bezel is a graduated two colour Cerachrom in grey and black ceramic. It’s numerals are coated with platinum via a process of physical vapour deposition. The case was crafted from a solid block of Oystersteel and the scratchproof sapphire provide guaranteed waterproofness up to 100 metres. The sapphire also features an anti-reflective coating and features a cyclops lens at the 3 0’clock for easy date reading.
The calibre 3285 also powers the date and the separate 24-hour hand. The triangle tipped 24-hour hand is embellished in green, which is echoed by the ‘GMT-Master II’ inscription on the dial.
