West Side Story
Situated on the Far West side of bustling Manhattan, the Hudson Yard sits sophisticated. All the way back in 1849, the Hudson River Railroad played as the main means of transportation for Hudson Yard locals, transporting passengers from 11th Avenue to the main terminal at 32nd Street, kissing the West Side as the trains passed through. Admittedly, Hudson Yard garnered the nickname ‘Death Avenue’ by the 1930’s.
With no sign of Maria or the Jets, the Hudson Yard has renovated and established as a business hub in the bustling Big Apple and every day there seems to be new big buildings popping up to call the neighbourhood home. American architect firm, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, have recently revealed new design options for their latest project. Situated at 35 Hudson Yard, it will be part of the long history that the place is renown for. Set to be the tallest tower in Hudson Yard, at a whopping 1,000 feet, the exterior looks slick and shiny, with the windows staggering reflected light from the New York horizon. It truly looks like the skyscraper blends into its surroundings. The building will include 143 private apartments, a hotel, gym, spa, office-block and retail shops. Even a golf simulator, if one wants to practise his swing. The project was dreamed in 2011, the foundations were first laid in 2015 and the mega cool building is set to be completed by the end of this year.
