What To Watch This September/October 2024
Joker: Folie à Deux
3 Oct
Joaquin Phoenix is back in his Academy Award Winning role as Joker, and this time he’s got company as Lady Gaga picks up the mantle as Harley Quinn.
The original film was always intended to be a standalone film, which is probably part of the spice that made it so good to begin with. No franchise hooks to spoil the broth. But when a movie does as good as this, Hollywood can’t bear to just leave it to rot on the ground, unsqueezed of all it’s value.
With that said this sequel descends even further into the rabbit hole of delusions, and the anarchy movement the Joker started continues unabated in a city that’s lost sight of what it’s people need.
Wolfs

I may never be able to watch Ocean’s 11 again for the first time but at the very least I can pretend the wise cracking characters played by George Clooney and Brad Pitt live on in this buddy fixer comedy thriller. The pair of lone wolves both get assigned to the same job, realise that things have hit the fan, and now must reconcile their eccentricities and broody self serious attitudes to make it out alive.
Written and Directed by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming), everyone’s so confident about this movie that Clooney and Pitt have already been discussing a sequel. “We had a blast doing it and we’ve seen it. It’s an off the charts great film and it’s fun to work with Brad again. We had a really good time.” Clooney told deadline. I’m excited.
LEE

Kate Winslet pulls out a stunning performance in the biopic true story of Elizabeth ‘Lee’ Miller, a fashion model turned war correspondent for Vogue. While the story itself could do with a little work Winslet does a standout job carrying the film. She’s supported by Oscar winner Elizabeth ‘Lee’ Miller, Alexander Skarsgård and Andy Samberg in his most serious role to date. Directed by Ellen Kuras (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) The film is focused on her personal journey through the war and walks us through some of the most iconic moments she captured.
