Whisky Alert: Limited Edition Dalmore Coming to New Zealand

On the banks of the Cromarty Firth you’ll find the historic warehouses of The Dalmore stocked to the brim with whisky casks patiently maturing. The cool November air is perfect for inspection week, as the whisky is at rest, their flavours perfect and true after the warmer summer months are done. Inspection week stretches back fifty years and the end result isn’t just a fun stroll down memory lane getting acquainted with the flavours. This is an audition of the casks themselves, and the ones that prove exceptional are elevated to become part of the The Dalmore Vintage Collection.

“We can never know what time and nature has given to these whiskies,” Master Whisky Maker Gregg Glass says, “until we take stock each November and see what magic has unfolded in the year. Richard and I select casks which we feel contain whiskies that exemplify The Dalmore’s quality and style, with the best of the best, becoming our Limited-Edition Vintages.”

This year the 15 Year Old, Vintage 2008 and 18 Year Old, Vintage 2005 were the darlings of the day. They’re joining the likes of the 2009 Vintage Sherry Cask Finish as well as the 2000 Vintage Calvados Cask Finish. Unfortunately the Vintage 2005 won’t be heading to our fare shores. But thw Vintage 2008 will be available from Glengarry Wines

“Vintage 2008 reveals naturally balanced shades and interplays of sweet cacao, fresh citrus and soft spices, and is a beautiful example of refined elegance from The Dalmore, captured at a moment in time.” explains Glass.

This expression has been matured in American white oak ex-Bourbon casks and enhanced by hand-selected Matusalem Sherry and Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, with an ABV of 45.8%, natural colour, and non-chill filtered.
