Your Backyard Needs A Bespoke Micropub
The days of the mancave are played out. Now is the time of the tiny Irish pub. Look out at your lawn, would you like to not have to mow a couple more meters of it? Why not put a miniature booze temple there instead.
You’ve always dreamed of owning a tavern, now it’s time to make that dream a reality without all the fuss of needing a liquor licence or a business plan. I’m operating on the assumption that it’s just going to be you and your mates using it, and not just a flagrant breaking of the law.

A Christchurch business called My Little Pub is designing bespoke pub experiences perfect for installing where your bikeshed is currently taking up space. They have a range of options for different budgets, a hiring option for the South Island and a can-do attitude for following your brief to make the most authentic adult clubhouse you’ve ever seen.

There are four different spec levels from Silver to Diamond with extra frills added along the way. Diamond will get you to the point that they’ll even source all the unique little nicknacks lining the shelves on the wall, but won’t include the one local glued to the pokey machine. There are four sizes, starting at 4.2m x 3m all the way up to 6m x 3m. The team works with you on personalised signage and graphics with colour moodboards to streamline the process.

Materials used include American white oak and American white ash, timber framed windows and doors, MetecnoPanel PIR panels, Duragalv steel base, underfloor insulation, brass hardware & custom stained-glass windows.

They don’t appear to build onsight, opting to do it in the comfort of their own studios and then dropping it off on a hiab. It’s not often you can say your pub fell off the back of a truck.

If you live down South in Otago or Canterbury you can hire one of these bad boys for your next function. They didn’t pay us to write this but if they’d like to I’ll take one of their products, please don’t send it to my work address.
