Dune & All The Movies You Need To Catch To End 2020
Dune, perhaps the most highly anticipated sci-fi of 2020 is finally here (covid willing). The Legendary Frank Herbert Novel has had a checkered history with cinema, with the only good adaption to date being a documentary about a failed attempt at making a Dune film. That doesn’t bode well, but if anyone can do this epic justice it’s Bladerunner 2049 Director Denis Villeneuve.
Dune takes place on Arrakis, a planet that creates spice, which is essentially the fuel of the galactic empire. It makes faster than light travel possible and gives people superhuman reflexes and thought. Add in a Game of Thrones-style power struggle to run the planet, marginalised natives, and gigantic sandworms that can swallow towns and you’ve got yourself a recipe for a pulse pounding intrigue-filled ride. Timothée Chalamet, who’s been making a mark for himself in every film he’s been in, takes his biggest role yet as Paul, the younger son and heir to the planet Duke Leto Atreides, played by Oscar Isaac. Leto is set up to fail, making Paul’s position a tenuous and dangerous one, but either way, the spice must flow.

The Witches
A new generation of kids are about to be traumatised by a new adaption of the Roald Dahl classic. Directed by Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis, this dark classic is about Anne Hathaway and Co turning kids into mice and generally trying to dispose of them. Cause kids suck, amiright? So relatable. Take the kids, but be warned, they may not be able to sleep afterwards.
