A Quiet Place 2, Black Widow, And All the Movies You Need To Catch This Month
These movies have been waiting an age to come out, but it looks like it’s finally time
Black Widow
Set after the events of Captain America: Civil War, but before everything hit the fan in Endgame, Scarlett Johansson returns as Natasha Romanoff AKA the titular Black Widow. It’s high time Widow got her own movie, exploring her past, her family, and everything that makes her tick.
It turns out that her family is pretty kick ass in it’s own right. David Harbour plays Red Guardian, a dad bod version of Captain America, as well as Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz making up her long-estranged family. Pugh’s character Yelena Belova steps in as the second Black Widow in the comics, so this may be a sly introduction to who’ll be filling in that role in Scarlett’s absence. As the first movie in Phase 4, Director Cate Shortland has a lot to live up to, and a lot of blanks yet to fill in.
For the nerds, Widow’s opponent in this movie is Taskmaster. For everyone else, expect plenty of action I guess. Let the Marvel spectacle enter your eyeballs and kick off all those parts of your brain you haven’t already turned off.
Mr. Jones
Based on the short but incredible life of Gareth Jones, a reporter who was among the first in the world to report on mass starvation in the Soviet Union, this film has already gathered accolades. Directed by Agnieszka Holland (The Secret Garden), the story follows Jones after his interview with Hitler, through to Russia, where he’s restricted to Moscow, but risks his life to sneak through to Ukraine to learn the truth.

A Quiet Place Part II
Picking up where the last film left off, A Quiet Place Part II follows what remains of the Abbott family (Emily Blunt and a bunch of kids) struggling to survive in a harsh new world. It appears that monsters that hunt by sound aren’t the only things the family needs to contend with. Once again directed by John Krasinski, he’s got a tough job to clear the bar the first critically-acclaimed horror set.
