The Best of the Monaco Yacht Show
If anywhere says you’ve made it, it’s living in Monaco, the 2 square kilometre kingdom on the French Riviera. 1 in 3 people who live there are millionaires and no doubt the total number there explodes this time of year thanks to the Monaco Boat show, one of the premier events that puts this tiny sovereign nation on the map. It’s been going strong since 1991 and has offered boat builders the chance to flex their skills for the world. 2022 was no different as 120 super yachts exhibited along Port Hercule, with a combined worth of over 4 billion euro. Try not to touch anything ok?
M/Y RIO Superyacht
Debuting this year at the show is the new 62-metre M/Y RIO, a floating work of art. Built by CRN in close collaboration with design and architecture studio Omega Architects, the yacht exudes a passion for on-board life with large indoor and outdoor living areas, perfect for shared cruising with family and friends. With four decks, one entirely dedicated to the owner, and a 11.2-metre beam, it can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in the owner suite and 5 guest cabins. There are 9 cabins for the 15 crew. The vessel has a top speed of 15 knots and cruises at 12 knots.
The owner wanted bright and happy moods throughout, so Pulina Exclusive Interiors pulled out all the stops to create a truly livable interior, with life bursting from the seams with vivid exotic decor.
Grande Trideck
The best triple-decker yacht is one with four decks. The Grande Trideck manages this by adding a half-raised aft deck to squeeze in just a little more real estate. Having this much space to work with gives plenty to do and plenty of moods to choose from. Small and intimate private patios look down onto lively beach style decking just above the sea’s surface. Between the two is the sundeck for lounging, and above that is the shaded main dining area. At 38 metres long, it has space for five cabins and another four for crew.
Designed by Achille Salvagni, the interiors are fluid and bright with a focus on creating pure and clean lines whenever possible.
The Grande Trideck has a cruising speed of 19/20 knots and a max speed of 23/25 knots powered by two 2600hp MTU’s.
MAIORA 35 EXUMA “Lady Nina”
The Lady Nina is one of the smallest boats we’re showcasing from the Yacht Show. It’s a dinky 35.2 metres, essentially a lifeboat really. How are we even supposed to live in these conditions? I have standards. In seriousness, she has some real good things going for her.
Three water-jet units, including two MJP 650 DRB and a central Booster, combined with three Caterpillar C32 Acert, 1925 Hp will push these crafts to a maximum speed of 35 knots. Jets also mean it can get in nice and close in the shallows. It also has incredible manoeuvrability with a short stopping distance and tight turning.
Interiors are constructed of Canaletto walnut with a Wengé finish for the walls, Canaletto walnut for the floors, and warm oak in the ceilings. Along with the salon are two wine cellars – one for wines and the other for a precious collection of tequila. The full-beam master stateroom and a professional galley can also be found on the main deck. The lower deck accommodates an additional nine guests in four cabins: a second owner’s cabin and two double cabins with exclusive sea level views, as well as a twin cabin with Pullman bed.
Crew quarters sleeps five with separate cabins and their own galley and mess.
Two helm stations mean the captain has a dedicated space while a second more public helm allows the owner to take over at a moments notice without leaving the company of family and friends. This helm area is actually fully convertible. It’s a 45 square metre space thanks to the up & down side and front windows, the fully-retractable aft door, and a sliding “moon-roof”.
This is a yacht that wants you to have a great time, whether you’re piloting or just enjoying its space.
Amels 60 COME TOGETHER
Seemingly made in honour of a post-Covid world, the Amels 60 COME TOGETHER is both a mission statement and a call to action. It was delivered in the Spring of 2022 and provides a 60 metre floating getaway for 12 guest and 12 crew. This particular craft is special as it’s the first of the limited edition Amels 60’s, which are all unique in their own way. The exterior was designed by Espen Øino and has a unique custom colour scheme with a metallic Pebble Grey hull with Matterhorn White and Super Jet Black superstructure. It has a gross tonnage of 830 and ranges up to 4,500 nautical miles at 13 knots. At a push it can go up to 15.5 knots if you’re happy to burn through the gas.
Project X
Another delivery this year is Project X by Golden Yachts. No, it’s not where the X-Men hang out, although it is nice enough to host a band of world renowned super heroes. Notably Project X is just one of 62 motor yachts in the 80-90m size range. Chartering this beauty will run you €1,200,000 a week over summer. But it’ll be worth it for you and 12 friends to run amok along its 88 metres of opulence alongside 28 able bodied crew. It has a maximum speed of 18 knots but who’s in a rush? It does Winter cruising in the Caribbean and summer cruising in the West Mediterranean. It’s a floating playground with four wave runners and four Seabobs available, as well as one of those hover flyboards you see occasionally. Between those and the two deck jacuzzis.
MY Lusine, YN 19360
At the beginning of 2022 in February Heesen launched its first yacht of the year. Dubbed MY Lusine, she can cruise at 13 knots up to 4,200 nautical miles. At 60 metres, it can accommodate 12 guests in six staterooms, with the owners apartment separated on the bridge deck aft. It has its own private helipad serviced by an enclosed air-conditioned reception area which means that all your richlister mates can come and go discreetly and comfortably.
Interiors aim for calm and elegance. The decor makes sure it exudes sophistication, with exact attention to detail left to the artisans at Heesen Yachts Interiors who worked with a range of rare woods, precious fabrics and exquisite leathers. Friso Visser, Heesen CCO is proud of what they were able to achieve with the Lusine. “Lusine truly showcases the work that Heesen can do to create a Full Custom yacht that embodies the distinctive personality and lifestyle of its owner.”
