A Sicilian Stay: Drama and Escorts Not Included
The White Lotus, the much-loved black comedy-drama, has been on everyone’s TV-watching radar in recent years. Following a group of very rich holidayers, the social satire shares the exploits of the holiday resort’s visitors and its employees. In episode three of season two, Daphne (played by Meghann Fahy) and Harper (Audrey Plaza) throw caution to the wind, ditching The White Lotus resort and jetting off to a neoclassical Sicilian palazzo.
Formally known as the Villa Tasca in real life, this stunning building—just a stone’s throw away from the little town of Monreale—is one of the most evocative estates in Sicily. Luckily for The White Lotus fans, the historic house is now offered on Airbnb. At the 16th century palazzo, visitors can expect a manse decked out with stunning mural paintworks, hundreds of priceless gold-edged antiques, stone floors, Murano chandeliers and a sweeping double staircase. As well as the expected palatial suites, guests will be able to enjoy private billiard rooms, bars and a classy decked-out music room. The three storey villa is surrounded by 20 stunning acres of pristine gardens, citrus groves, a pond, a natural swimming pool, and mighty trees.
It doesn’t come cheap however (which is to be expected)—try cutting-your-teeth around NZD$9,420 a night. You get what you pay for, though. As well as basking in this stunning Italian villa, you are also treated to a full wait service—a housekeeper, manager, concierge, a personal chef, a butler and two room attendants.
