Denis Villeneuve has done the unimaginable and actually done justice to one of the most epic sci-fi’s ever written. Dune has been to sci-fi cinema what Napoleon has been to historical dramas. Not even Ridley Scott could wrestle that epic into line. What Villeneuve brings to the table is a delicate touch with an eye for grand spectacle and visuals, when he shot the first film it wasn’t clear whether the sequel would be greenlit, but after it’s huge critical reception he secured the funds to hit us with the final half of the film. Thank God for that.
