Belt Up: The 1919 Collection by Parisian
All made in New Zealand with premium leathers.
Humanity has been surprisingly inventive when it comes to not being caught with its pants down. We’ve tried rope, sashes and drawstrings. The Victorians hoisted their trousers to their sternums with braces, and someone, somewhere, is holding it all together with a safety pin right now. But in 1919, around the time the world decided the belt was the answer, Parisian was founded. More than a century later, it still makes belts right here in New Zealand using premium materials and traditional craft: Whanganui-tanned leather, Italian suede, Tuscan hides and buckles hand-whipped with waxed thread.

The Lorne features full-grain leather tanned in Whanganui and is named after Parisian’s original premises on Lorne Street. With a polished finish, the Lorne is a quintessential formal belt that also works well with denim.

The Nabucco features suede tanned in northern Italy. It is an elevated casual belt, combining the soft texture of suede with a refined tapered edge and polished silver buckle.

The Pelham is cut from Tuscan vegetable-tanned leather. Each strap is gently moulded to taper at the edge and highlight the hide’s inherent character. The equestrian-style buckle is hand-whipped with heavy waxed thread. It is the perfect jeans belt and will develop a rich patina with time and wear.
