The Terrible Strategies you and your Partner Use to Pick Movies on Netflix
Deciding what to watch together can be a difficult task. It has torn marriages and families apart. Here are the many ways people have tried overcoming this difficult part of the evening.
Bargaining
This system seems the most fair at first, but it’ll always leave one of the viewers cold. You watch John Wick one night, she watches Finding Dory on Disney+ the next. From what I can tell, that movie was an experiment in seeing what would happen if they based a story entirely around the most annoying character in the original film.
The Infini-scroll
Instead of having any strong opinions either way, you consign your evening to scrolling through thousands of thumbnails together, stunned by the variety of things you don’t want to watch.
Meet in the Middle
You both manage to find a film you wouldn’t really mind seeing, but are in no way jazzed for. This is territory mostly held by the edgier rom coms out there (such as they are).
