BMW: What will their future look like?
BMW is one of the most well-known car brands in the world. Everyone loves and can recognise one when they see one. Recently, they have released information about their latest concept car, called the BMW i Vision Circular, that will feature recycled materials. At the end of the car’s life, it will be able to be dismantled and the materials recycled to be used once again. Having been on show at the COP26 conference in Glasgow, the four-seater car features a minimalistic structure and uses detachable connections.
The design team for the i Vision Circular even opted to use a recyclable battery and they kept a close eye on using the least amount of paint as possible. The outer shell was tempered during its making to appear in shades of copper and blue, the logo is engraved and the badge is etched to avoid any unnecessary add-ons. The interior is lined with recycled fabric, woven into a Jacquard design.
I hate to break it to you now, but the BMW i Vision Circular isn’t planning on being on the market any time soon. It is just BMW’s way of offering their visions for a more reusable future. BMW has been committed to breaking or minimising their carbon footprint and have said many times before that they are aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050.
