Bohemian Rhapsody
Rami Malek faces the hardest role of his life as he takes on the god-like figure of Freddie Mercury. Bohemian Rhapsody charts the highs and lows of Queen, a band that helped define a generation.
From their early days, through to Freddie’s rocky solo career on to their reuniting for Live Aid. A brilliant tragedy, with one of the best soundtracks you could imagine.
Back in Issue 160 of M2, Malek describes how he used a movement coach to get him moving and acting like the legend. This gave him the confidence to do the shots without choreography. “I remember when we started shooting Live Aid and I said ‘look, what I know about Freddie is that he was not deliberate about what he was going to do on the stage the night before he went on.’… Our producers would talk about working with a choreographer and I said ‘it’s not choreographed.’ There’s nothing about him that’s choreographed”
If you’re a fan of Queen, this is the best recreation of their career that you’re going to get.
