Cap Off Winter With a Spa and These Whisky & Cocktail Nights

Finding things to do in town can be hard in the winter. But getting the courage up to leave the house can be worth it when the place you’re going feels like a home away from home. The Cordis Auckland has a number of events running in its bars, restaurants and spas. Let’s take a look at what’s happening out and about. If none of these strike you’re fancy, we have an entire channel dedicated to celebrating the heart of local events here.

The first two event’s we’d like to highlight are based at Our Land is Alive, Auckland’s newest destination bar inspired by Aotearoa’s spectacular landscape and located at the Cordis Auckland on Symonds Street.

WHISKY WEDNESDAY

Celebrate Whisky Wednesday with Our Land is Alive’s winter warming whisky based cocktail, the ‘Our Land Hot Toddy’, or a Thomson Whisky New Zealand flight (includes three tasters). The Hot Toddy is a delicious mix of Thompson’s Two Tone Whisky, lemon juice and honey, great to shake off a winter sniffle.

These are both $16 each, or add on the dessert of the day – a delicious salted caramel panna cotta with mandarin compote and honey – for only $25.

Available until Friday 30 September from 8pm till late.

THIRSTY THURSDAY

Are you a gin fan? Well get together every week for Thirsty Thursday to enjoy the best gin cocktails Auckland has to offer. There are two great gin based cocktails to choose from; the ‘Our Land Bramble’ or a Little Biddy Gin Flight (includes three tasters). The Our Land Bramble is a fruitful mix of Little Biddy Gin, lime juice, sugar syrup and strawberry liquor, a sweet way to end your day.

These are both $16 each, or add on the dessert of the day to really indulge yourself – a vanilla rice pudding with Hawke’s Bay poached pear, for only $25.

WINTER INDULGENCE AT CHUAN SPA

Have you considered that you’ve worked hard all year and barely treated yourself at all? Sure, you’ve shown up the odd Thursday for a gin here and there, but the rest of your body could use a break as well. For a completely different change of pace, put a focus on your wellness this winter and treat yourself to a day of luxury at Chuan Spa, with their new Winter Indulgence package.

Relax and unwind this winter with a hot stone back, neck and shoulder massage, followed by a soothing head massage with warmed Chinese herbs to melt away tension, and then a nourishing lower leg and foot massage.

Finally, enjoy a moment of calm and relaxation with a warmed ginger tea. You can also come early to your appointment and enjoy the heated roof-top pool, spa pool, sauna and herbal steam room, getting your skin in its optimal state for your massage.
