Christmas Shopping With Difference
A few defining factors separate staying at a home from a premium hotel like the Cordis Auckland. At Cordis, if you go downstairs you have a range of the world’s finest hospitality options. At my place, if you go downstairs you end up in a storage basement containing a lawnmower, some boxes of costumes from a weird theatre phase and a semi-complete 1978 Ducati motorbike.
This is a fundamental difference between having a couple of rest days at home and having a luxury staycation at the Cordis. You just aren’t surrounded by reminders of the things that you need to do. You are free to immerse yourself purely in the task at hand. Enjoying yourself, being pampered and spending quality time with your loved ones. From experience, I can tell you that date night takes a bit of a dark mood shift if partway through you take a quick bathroom break with a 40-minute detour to clean some parts on your project motorbike.
There are of course more obvious defining factors. My house, for instance, doesn’t have 640 rooms, unfortunately. But in spite of all the major architectural, engineering and structural differences, I think one of the most profound comes in the form of the Cordis Dream Bed. The sleeping experience is just next level. I can’t describe too much detail about actually sleeping on the Cordis Dream Bed because I was asleep, but the process of falling asleep was like falling into an infinite lap pool of clouds and angel feathers with slightly more lumber support. I always vowed that one day when I was rich and famous that I would own a Cordis Dream Bed. While the former hasn’t quite panned out, I’m pleased to say that I have found a loophole in the vision. The Cordis Auckland actually have a shop, and via that shop you can buy your own Cordis Dream Bed if you want to take the experience home with you.
And if you are after some Christmas gifts that are slightly more convenient in the logistics department, the shop has a range of cool items like spa and skincare products including Chuan Spa oils and Sothy’s serums and creams; Cordis Candles and a range of accommodation packages, food and beverage and spa vouchers. There’s even a range of Cordis’s red panda mascot toys and themed slippers and dressings gowns. A warning though, if you happen to venture into the store with your seven-year-old daughter you will most likely be walking out with a fluffy red panda named Cody. “But daaaaaad, he’s sooooo cuuuuute.” Cue puppy dog eyes.
And in keeping with the festive season (how did we get here so fast again by the way?), Cordis Shop is all decked out in Christmas décor and has gift wrapping available.
This gift wrapping station is currently open daily from 2 to 6pm Monday to Friday and 2 to 4pm Saturday and Sunday. There is even gift wrapping until Christmas Eve! A bit of a pro tip here from a notorious Christmas Gift forgetter but the Cordis shop on Christmas Eve is a far better option than trying to navigate the local shopping centre carpark and a mass of crazed people that would make a scene from an apocalyptic zombie movie seem more relaxed. On that note, Merry Christmas. And check out the Cordis Shop here.
