Destination Du Jour
It’s that time of year when you are in-between tropical holidays and in desperate need to get out of the city, even just for the weekend.
While it is winter, New Zealand has some pretty incredible destinations to escape to, and recharge and re-energise yourself to get through the last few cold months of the year.A unique opportunity is here for you to whisk your loved one away to the snow capped
A unique opportunity is here for you to whisk your loved one away to the snow capped alps, for a weekend of pure opulence. You can experience the new pop-up suites and luxurious offerings at Hilton Resort and Spa’s; Hôtel du Marc inspired room – complete with Veuve Clicquot!
For a limited time, Hilton Hotels and Resorts has created a world first experience that brings a little taste of the Hôtel du Marc, an invitation only hotel in Reims, France. The Hôtel du Marc is originally the residence of Madame Clicquot, the illustrious woman behind the luxury champagne (Veuve Clicquot) as we know it today.
I was lucky enough to spend a few nights away from the big city to get a taste of it myself. If you haven’t stayed at the Queenstown Hilton, you are in for a real treat. It has the most picturesque views of Lake Wakatipu, and the surrounding mountains disappear up into the skies as they fade from luscious browns and greens up to the crisp white, snow covered caps. The Hôtel du Marc room has the most exceptional view of this and has a large balcony for you to enjoy the view from. Upon arrival, I was welcomed to the room to a perfectly chilled bottle of Veuve Clicquot, which I did not hesitate to open, because when in Rome… well in this case France, right? The suite has been transformed from what is usually a beautiful room anyway, to reflect the nuances of the Hôtel du Marc and it’s unique style. This transformation has been put together by renowned interior stylist, Michelle Halford of The Design Chaser , “I’m delighted to bring to life this innovative and exciting concept on behalf of Hilton Hotels & Resorts,” said Halford. “Hôtel du Marc is a beautiful and eclectic building and I’m excited to help Hilton Hotels & Resorts reinvent this here in New Zealand.” And she has done a wonderful job too.The morning arrives, and I head down to the Wakatipu Grill for the buffet breakfast that comes with the package experience. Breakfast offers a wide variety of fresh pastries and more breakfast foods then you can ever imagine, but what I am really looking forward to is the flute and facial promotion (that you can book separately) at the hotel’s eforea spa – bring on an hour of ultimate relaxation. And that it was, the eforea spa facial was exceptional, and really started off the day perfectly.

Hilton Queenstown also has a three-course menu matched with Veuve Clicquot NV at the Wakatipu Grill that you can opt to experience too, which is a delicately put together menu and will have your tastebuds singing the chef’s praise.
Queenstown is the ultimate getaway destination and the snow season has been on point this year, so I definitely recommend heading down, and there is nowhere better to stay then in this unique limited time only offering. But if Queenstown isn’t your destination of choice, Hilton Auckland and Hilton Lake Taupo also have the stunning Hôtel du Marc inspired offerings for you to get a taste of for yourself. Considering the rooms are not ‘invite only’ they are still only here for a limited time so get in quick to grab yourself a bit of the glamorous escapism that we all crave.
