The Worlds First Roadworthy Supercar
The car brand, Toyota has harked back to their slogan, “Moving Forward”, for years and has completely encapsulated that in in their latest concept creation. Revealed at the 2018 24 Hours of Le Mans this month in France, the GR Super Sport is to be the world’s first road worthy supercar. With similar technology straight from its previous, TS050 Hybrid LMP1, this “next generation racehorse” has a wow factor and a half.
With 986 hp worth of LMP1-H racing technology, the car can clock up some serious power and speed with its 2.4-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine. A lithium ion battery is charged through two motor units – one housed in each wheel. It is well equipped with the technology, like that of a Porsche 919 Hybrid model.
Under the twin turbocharger sits the Toyota Hybrid System-Racing powertrain that puts forth some serious guttural oomph, yet makes sure to keep the environment nice and clean. Shigeki Tomoyama, President of GAZOO Racing Company said at the event: “Competing in the World Endurance Championship – one of the most demanding motorsports series – and racing at Le Mans – one of the most iconic races – helps us to advance the development of our world-leading hybrid electric technology and enables us to transfer the knowledge we gain into our production cars.”
The concept car has a massive wraparound windscreen, a big rear wing and a central fin. The slick tyres measure in a 330mm in width. This supercar looks as good on the inside as it does on the outside. Slick black leather and a slender, sexy complexion, a grunt and a roar, this car is the pinnacle of glamour and speed. This concept car has the body of a speedster, yet has the gentle hum of a Soprano singer. So there’s a definite marriage of the machine and the human driving it. A real treat for any super car driver.
