Hail To The King
If you watched Ryan Gosling’s latest MOVIE then you may have noticed him flashing his suitably modern watch around.
Project Hail Mary is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, with a screenplay by Drew Goddard, and follows science teacher Ryland Grace who wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. I guess because just telling the story straight would be way less exciting.
Anyway back to the watch. Throughout the movie Gosling wears a TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E5, featured in a titanium case paired with a vivid red strap. As an ambassador for the brand since 2021, TAG Heuer sneaks it’s way into all his films. In The Gray Man (a solid little spy flick in my opinion!) he wears the TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre 5 with a silver dial on both a stainless steel bracelet and a strap, while in The Fall Guy he’s sporting a TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph (reverse panda 2447 NS model). The Fall Guy is an incredibly meta movie about making movies, so the Carrera gets a lot of ironic screentime, and eagle eyed viewers will notice that sometimes the watch will be upside down between cuts just so it’s the right way up for the viewer at all times.
In the Barbie movie he wears three watches all at the same time for maximum bling. A 1971 18k gold braceleted Heuer Carrera (Ref 1158CHN), the barrel-shaped vintage Heuer Carrera Chronograph 110.515 and finally another gold plated Carrera (ref 2448N).
I expect it might be spreading and he’ll be wearing six watches in the next movie.
