I’m Going to Halligan
Aucklanders have a new cocktail and wine lounge to roost in, overlooking St Patrick’s Square in the CBD. Positioned on the second floor of Hotel Indigo Auckland, within one of the city’s landmark heritage buildings, The Halligan has been designed as an intimate neighbourhood destination.
Rather than chasing rooftop views or late-night crowds, The Halligan offers something different: a place to slow down, settle in and enjoy beautifully crafted cocktails, thoughtfully curated wines, seasonal dining and great conversation.

Leading the drinks programme is bar manager Dylan Hawkins, who has built the list around classic foundations with a contemporary perspective.
“The classics have endured for a reason,” says Hawkins.

“They’re the starting point for everything we do. We want guests to feel equally comfortable ordering their favourite Negroni or Martini, or discovering something completely new. It’s about respecting tradition while creating drinks that feel distinctly our own.”
Complementing the drinks programme is a seasonal dining menu by executive chef Yutak Son, whose work has received Bib Gourmand recognition. Drawing on premium local ingredients and refined European technique, the menu has been designed to sit naturally alongside The Halligan’s cocktail and wine offering.
Personally, I’m looking forward to the Silence and Thunder, made with Widges gin, Japanese clarified milk punch, fig and roasted chestnut. It sounds divine.
