In The Sands Of Time
Technology is becoming so great and diverse nowadays we are able to print out the finest of materials with just the touch of a button. Take sand, for example.
Next year, a new luxury hotel is going to be opened just off the East Coast of Mozambique that will utilise 3D sand-printing technology in components of the structures. Called the Kisawa Sanctuary Hotel, the design and feel of the resort will be that of old Mozambican tradition.
With the 3D-printed sand, certain construction elements are produced, from masonary to flooring and tiling, as part of the hotel sitting on over 300-hectares of private beach. Kisawa Sanctuary is set to have 12 one, two and three bedroom bungalows, swimming pools, an outdoor kitchen, a massage hut and transportation around the resort that will be electric. Guests will be spending USD$5,500 a night for the luxury of staying in this island paradise. They’ll also get their own private chef, staff, spa treatment, driving facilities and marine safari.
Additionally, the resort will have an on-site 3D printer that will be churning out coral reefs and marine habitats for the resorts nonprofit sister organisation, Bazaruto Center for Scientific Studies.
