Lazzarini’s Latest Flying Yacht
To understand the general premise of transportation, it is universally acknowledged that cars drive on land, boats sail on the sea, and planes fly in the sky. In true Lazzarini-style, the Italy-based design studio are (yet again) trying to flip that notion on its head. If their latest concept design is created, it’ll also be the largest hydrofoil boat in the world. In layman’s terms, a hydrofoil vessel is best described as being one with an underwater fin, allowing it to lift off the water’s surface and ‘fly’ at top speed.
Named Plectrum, Lazzarini took the inspiration from America’s Cup yachts that use the same tech and are composed of dry carbon fibre composites. By using three hydrogen-powered motors, the light-weight yacht is capable of 5,000 horsepower.
When you aren’t trying to find the redline for said engines, you can take some time to enjoy the stylish Lazzarini interior. Plectrum will be divided into four decks, with her main deck equipped with six guest staterooms, as well as an owner’s suite.
Big spaces will be offered too, with a chance to really spread out and relax in this super-yacht. Also featured in the Plectrum will be a bow-lifting garage, a helicopter hanger and garage space to park two cars and/or boats.
Though just a concept at the moment, Lazzarini has already offered that Plectrum can be built on request for a cool NZD$135.6 million.
