Logan Ringland, GM of Sales of Emerging Technologies Talks Bucket Lists
What are the top three things on your bucket list?
Travel through Europe with my family, no agenda, no time frame.
Drive or ride in an open seater race car.
Learn to fly.
What advice would you give your 20 year-old self?
Don’t get onto the debt cycle unless you are buying a house. Save for anything you want so you can still be free.
How do you stay motivated?
I try to set myself achievable, short term goals. I find long term goals are difficult to focus on for an extended period. I am quite competitive and look at most things I undertake as a bit of a game…it’s me against others, and I love to win. There is always something out there to drive towards.
What is the secret to success?
I have always focused on visibility, impact and integrity. The opportunities to succeed are out there, you just have to say “I want it” when it appears (even though it may scare the s**t out of you) and put the hard work in to get match fit. Do what you say you will…you only have your integrity at the end of the day.
What is your advice for people to fund their dream?
Don’t solely focus on the dream itself, focus on achievement of smaller goals as the compounding effect of these smaller successes will accelerate your ability to execute on your dream.
What is the best bit of advice, or quote, that resonates with you?
Do some things right, do some things wrong, but just be doing something.
What’s your favourite restaurant?
The Grill by Sean Connolly. Love the Study of Beef.
How do you keep up to date with current affairs?
I spend a lot of time in the car going to and from work and visiting customers, so I listen to news podcasts or, as my daughter calls it, “old man” radio, and subscribing to IT and business news wires.
What is the secret of living a longer, more successful life?
I think exercise, an occasionally unhealthy diet, and treating people as you wish to be treated are the keys. The saying “healthy body, healthy mind” definitely applies to me. When I feel good, I am more focused and motivated. Oh, and a regular dose of a quality Scotch.
