Foundation North holds in trust for the Auckland and Northland communities an endowment of $1.4 billion. That endowment, held in perpetuity for the region, allows them to make around 40 million dollars in grants each year to not-for-profit groups in Auckland and Northland. The Foundation has often been the first major funder to come on board to support the development of major regional facilities including: Auckland Art Gallery, Marae restoration, Auckland City Mission – HomeGround, major sports facilities like Eden Park, Auckland Theatre Company, Museum of Waitangi and St Patrick’s Cathedral.
We talk to Foundation North CEO Peter Tynan about being at the helm of one of New Zealand’s largest philanthropic funders and their work in Auckland and Northland and to be part of enabling innovative projects that are helping our communities.
