TAG Heuer Aquaracer Professional 300 Tribute to Ref. 844
Sporting a very literal title which states its intentions right off the bat, the Aquaracer Professional 300 Tribute to Ref. 844 sets its sights on modernising one of TAG Heuer’s most iconic works, their 1978 Ref. 844. It goes without saying that with a name like Aquaracer, this is a premium diver’s watch that is tailored give you a high-level of functionality in the water. This is exemplified in features like the watch’s practical while stylish rubber strap with octagonal perforations, which is smartly designed to allow for water to pass between watch and hand to prevent drag. The 43mm case is put together with a lightweight, pressure-proof grade 5 titanium and the case back is engraved with an awesome ‘Diving helmet’ motif.
Of the features that this new version adopts from the classic Ref. 844, the Tribute includes the red 24-hour scale on the dial that was slapped onto the original edition as an instant converter chart. With a water resistance of 300m, this is about as good as it gets in the diver’s watch style. Appropriately, TAG Heuer has made this special watch a real scarcity, producing only 844 pieces of the fantastic model.
TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph
When an iconic watchmaker links up with legendary automotive brand, you know they’re more than likely going to create something remarkable. TAG Heuer and Porsche have an extensive history together, as the Swiss watchmaker has sponsored Porsche’s motorsport efforts as far back at the 1980’s. This time, Porsche is offering its influence in TAG Heuer’s domain, as the pair have collaborated in designing the incredible TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph. Wearing the distinctive Porsche home colours of red and black, the Carrera Porsche Chronograph exemplifies the two brands shared commitment to performance, quality and innovation.
The dial features three striking black chronograph counters, one each at the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions, sitting on a unique grey asphalt dial. Surrounding them are the black gold plated indexes, which visually bounce off the dial thanks to a coat of Super-LumiNova®. The powerful red PORSCHE inscription stands out boldly on the fixed ceramic black tachymeter bezel. The in-house Calibre Heuer 02 Automatic can be admired at work thanks to a clear screw-down sapphire case back. Tying the exceptional piece together is a fine hand-stitched embossed black calf leather strap.
