The New Seiko Prospex is Everything You Need in a Watch
Seiko has been serving divers premium timepieces since 1965 and it’s a tradition they’ve continued to this day, steadily improving and iterating on those first designs. What we have now is the beautiful Prospex line of timepieces for people who want style as well as function, in and out of the water. The Seiko Prospex – Sumo Black Dial was first released in 2007, but has recently seen an upgrade in design and materials. The newest version, the SPB101J1 as it’s numbered, was first shown off at Baselworld 2019 and horologists agree it’s a worthy upgrade in the series.
The new calibre 6R35 improves on its predecessor, the 6R15, with a 70 hour power reserve. It’s slimmer, and the crystal glass has been replaced by sapphire.
On the outside the casing is 45mm in diameter and 52.5mm in length and made of stainless steel. It’s 200m water resistant and also workplace approved, meaning you’ll be wearing it just as much on the weekend as you are during the week.
True Seiko fans have always loved the Prospex for its classy look, and these new additions to its line just make it so much better.
