Tim Cook With The Recipe for Success
Following in the footsteps of someone who is considered to be one of the leading technology pioneers of the last few decades can’t be easy. However, under Tim Cook’s leadership, tech giant Apple has gone from strength to strength.
Taking over Apple in 2011, after the death of founder, Steve Jobs, Cook was named on Time’s “100 Most Influential People” list the following year. Under Cook’s leadership, Apple purchased Beats Electronics and has increased the company’s charitable donations, Cook’s even going as far as to pledge the entirety of his own stock earnings to charity.
In 2014, Cook came out as gay, making him the the first chief executive of a Fortune 500 company to do so. With a strong focus on sustainability and awareness of climate change, in 2013, he hired the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency, Lisa Jackson to assist in Apple’s focus on renewable energy activities and going as far as to tell shareholders that if they didn’t agree with his views on sustainability, they better “get out of the stock”.
