Tom Cruise Literally Lured out Royalty for Digger Premier

Tom Cruise and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu celebrated the World Premiere of their new film Digger in London on Tuesday night, with Their Royal Highnesses The Prince and Princess of Wales among the distinguished guests attending the star-studded event at Leicester Square. It’s not usual royalty shows up for a movie premier, but if the trailers are anything to go by this is no regular movie. The first teaser for the film was just a big smash cut of every other film Cruise has done. The following trailers did even less to illucidate the situation. Rare in a time where trailers given away the entire film in a minute and a half.

The one liner describing Cruise’s oil baron Iceberg destroying film goes like this “The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.”

The premiere also served as this year’s Royal Film Performance, the flagship fundraiser for The Film and TV Charity, which supports the tens of thousands of people working behind the scenes across the UK’s film and television industry.

Cruise was joined on the red carpet by an acclaimed ensemble cast including Australian breakout star Sophie Wilde, Academy Award winner Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Academy Award nominee Sandra Hüller, Michael Stuhlbarg and Academy Award nominee Jesse Plemons, alongside Iñárritu

I’d love to tell you what the film itself is like but the local press screening of it got snaffled up before I had a chance to RSVP. That’s RARE. I didn’t even have that problem going to see The Odyssey in Imax with it’s minimal row of seats stacked one on top of the other. Suffice to say I expect Digger to be a critical darling
