Virgil Abloh: Black Canon Of Culture

“Within my practice, I contribute to a Black canon of culture and art and its preservation. This is why, to preserve my own output, I record it at length.” Virgil Abloh said in 2020.

Abloh was and still is a legend in the fashion industry, pushing boundaries where ever they lay and his recent passing will leave a massive gap in the fashion industry. In 2018 he became the first Black American to be the Head of Menswear at French fashion house, Louis Vuitton, which then saw a 20% growth in sales that has been mostly attributed to Abloh. He proved that nothing was immutable and his relentless sense of fashion will continue to shape our world. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
