The Art of the Tie
After years in the wilderness, ties are coming back. At parisian they are celebrating this renaissance with their latest collection of liberty prints.
This season’s collection – THE GARDEN PARTY – is inspired by the floral history within Liberty’s archive. Wildflowers and manicured blooms embrace the playful charm of summer gatherings.
PARISIAN’s edit links four generations of tie-making expertise in New Zealand with the bountiful art of the world’s most celebrated print collection.

1. PEONY PEACOCK
Bursting with dramatic florals and intricate peacock feathers, Peony Peacock was hand-drawn in the Liberty design studio using coloured pencils. Reminiscent of lavish banquets, the design reinterprets some of Liberty’s signature motifs with new sophistication.
2. PRAIRIE BOUQUET
Prairie Bouquet is inspired by a rediscovered artwork from the Liberty archive, reinterpreted through the lens of 1970s design. Its multidirectional, stylised florals and clustered blooms capture a distinctly folksy atmosphere, evoking the charm of handcrafted decoration.
3. PANSY PATCH
Inspired by an artwork discovered in the archive, Pansy Patch is abundant with vibrant pansies in celebration of the playful elegance of garden party attire.
Layered florals are coloured in a rich spectrum of hues, creating a lively composition full of joy and movement.
4. MEADOW SCATTER
Inspired by an artwork for a Liberty scarf created in 1992, Meadow Scatter is a 1970s-style floral print. The design exhibits a dense array of vibrantly hued floral clusters.
5. ANTOINETTE WEAVE
Antoinette Weave draws inspiration from the lustrous dupion silks that adorned Marie Antoinette’s furnishings at the Palace of Versailles. A lively interplay of techniques and styles unfolds across this refined stripe ground, echoing the artistry of woven textiles.
6. WILD POSY
Wild Posy depicts an intricate meadow in full bloom, bursting with an exuberant array of wildflowers. Sketched in the London studio and painted in watercolour, each flower is detailed in a fine outline.
