The Best of Grand Seiko at Watches & Wonders 2025
There’s a season for everything, and by the looks of it there’s a Seiko for every season. This year Grand Seiko came out swinging at Watches & Wonders with a range of new expressions. Here’s our favourites.
SLGC007 TENTAGRAPH Snow Blue
Evolution 9 Collection
With an embossed pattern representing Mount Iwate’s ridgeline the SLGC007 TENTAGRAPH Snow Blue is our personal top pick from the show. This model features the Mechanical Hi-Beat Chronograph Caliber 9SC5 movement oscillating at a rate of 10 beats per second for up to 72 hours. With 3 subdials the Tentagraph values legibility above all else.
SBGW323 Purple KIRI Flower
Heritage Collection
Inspired by the colours of the Kiri, the official flower of Iwate Prefecture, Seiko has designed an elegant 36.5mm mid-sized case watch for their heritage collection. beyond just the colour, the local geography is represented by a pressed pattern to represent the ridges of Mount Iwate, the peak visible from the windows of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuish. It features a manually wound mechanical movement with a continuous power reserve of 72 hours.
SLGC009 Tokyo Lion TENTAGRAPH
Sport Collection
Releasing in August 2025 the Tentagraph steps out of the bounds of ordinary to be a true statement piece. This watch marks the first time that Grand Seiko’s Brilliant Hard Titanium has been adopted in the Sport Collection. The alloy is brighter than traditional titanium, causing the case’s hairline-finished and Zaratsu-polished surfaces to appear even more radiant. To go with the sportiness is a rubber strap. But Seiko wasn’t going to just stop there, no, it’s 2.7 times stronger than the typical silicone strap used for Grand Seiko. Created specifically for this watch, its brown color pair perfectly with the patterned dial.
SLGB003 Ice Forest
Evolution 9 Collection
Inspired by the ice forests that lie to the east of the Shinshu Watch Studio in the the Kirigamine Highlands The intricately textured dial captures the beauty of the forests. It’s powered by the Spring Drive Calibre 9RB2 which is one of the most accurate wristwatch movements powered by a mainspring today. This is due to enhanced manufacturing and processing methods for the three-month-aged quartz oscillator, and a newly designed IC. The new watches have a case diameter of just 37mm, making them the smallest models powered by the 9R series to date and ideal for smaller wrists.
SLGB001 Ice Forest
Evolution 9 Collection
For true fans of the evolution 9 collection and Spring Drive Caliber 9RB2 there is highly coveted SLGB001. This limited edition watch features a Platinum 950 case and a crocodile strap. it’s limited to just 80 pieces.
